Myself and my wife were renting an apartment, thought we had been good tenants and looks after the apartment really well.

However, when it came to moving out the agent managing our property suddenly found every excuse to charge us for replacement items they could

£350 for a new mattress

£350 for a second new mattress

£150 for professional cleaning

£100 for repainting

and various others…

Suddenly we were looking at a deduction of nearly £1000, money that we needed to put into our next property.

Knowing this didn’t feel right I was lucky enough to have a legal education and I put it to work scouring Acts of Parliament and tenants rights websites to find out what charges are fair and what I can do about it.

The more we researched the more we found this problems is bigger than we ever thought

Through more research we took our concerns to the arbitration and came away with a bill for £25!

£25!!!!!!

So from a £1000 for £25 to clean a stain off of one mattress.

Which was great for us, but got us thinking. How often is this happening.

Unfortunately the answer is everyday!!!!

Everyday 1000’s of tenants are overcharged for things they shouldn’t be charged for.

So we started talking to our friends, they had the same problems.

We started helping them, coming across the same problems and same agents/landlord trying the same things

Which was the birth of Deposit Warrior, now we helps dozens of people every week keep their own deposits
